The legendary spinner also warned Pakistan team management to come up with better planning in the next tours of New Zealand and England as the advantages Pakistan enjoyed in the UAE would not be there.“The victory is commendable and the entire team, its management and the PCB deserve applaud particularly considering the fact that Pakistan succeeded in clinching No.2 spot in Test ranking,” Qadir told Dawn soon after Pakistan wrapped up the Test series, beating England in the third Test by 127 runs in Sharjah.

“I have predicted before the start of the Test series that leg-spinner Yasir Shah would be the main difference between the two teams but I still believe he must have taken more wickets, for the English batting department had hardly got any renowned batsman except for Ian Bell, Joe Root and captain Alastair Cook to face quality spin,” maintained Qadir who further said: “While Root’s performance was below par, Bell was also not consistent, with Cook being the only one to have stood firm.”

Drawing parallel between the two teams and their respective performances, the former leg-spinner said the favourable UAE conditions contributed hugely to Pakistan victory over England who, he said, were, of course, deprived of the same advantages.
