The former Aussie leg-spin great met the fast-rising Yasir last week and held a short training session. Shah revealed that he applied what he learned from Warne to help Pakistan complete England’s rout. “Warne gave me some really useful tips regarding the run-up and using the crease,” said Yasir while talking to Dawn. “I’ll try to work more on it to get better,” he added.

Another man who partnered Yasir when he met Warne was Mushtaq Ahmed — Pakistan’s spin bowling coach and one of the best leg-break bowlers of his era. Yasir was full of praise for ‘Mushi’ too. “Mushtaq has worked very hard to help me improve,” he said. Yasir, who made his First-class debut at the age of just 15, waited nine years to play for Pakistan and has now gone on to take 76 Test wickets in just 12 Tests.

The 29-year-old from Swabi, however is still excited about future and wants to do as well in the shorter format too. “I am eyeing the upcoming ODI series against England at the moment,” said Yasir of the four ODIs and three T20s. Yasir is also looking forward to the away series against England next year.
